Just like I did with the Gangsta Thug, I'll be including some photos and music pertinent to each Warrior in Showdown Match 3. Here are some pictures and my favorite music from the Pokemon universe!
Ash Ketchum: born to be a winner!!!
Ash Ketchum's Official Theme: Gotta Catch 'Em All!!!
They'll all be on the same team against the Gryffindor squad, unlike here.
Unbeatable (Advanced Battle)
As Pikachu is the only pokemon that Ash has used throughout his adventures, it'll be his most trusted weapon in this battle.
We Will be Heroes
Ash has used many pokemon over the years, but against Harry he will stick to his best known and most powerful ones. Needless to say, of these only Pikachu will be getting in!!! (sorry Chimchar, but Charizard could eat you for lunch).
Born to be a Winner (Johto Battle)
Here I'll explain my position on the whole Ash/Red problem: I think that they are different angles on the same basic character, and neither is the "proper" version of the Pokemon hero. Red certainly has some different tendencies from Ash, but I think that those have a lot to do do with the maturity differences between the two. Remember, while Red is already a master trainer, Ash is still but a journeyman. I think their similarities as characters are too close to ignore, and while this battle will indeed feature Ash it's also true that Ketchum will have matured to the point where he'll have a lot of things in common with Red. This time around, Ash will have to make the same choices Red does- and deal with the consequences of success as well!
Together Forever
I'm sticking with Brock and Misty as Ash's teammates for this showdown because they are the most memorable sidekicks to most casual fans of the show. It also helps Misty's case that she has far more combat experience than any of Ash's other female traveling partners.
We Will Meet Again (Lucario and the Mystery of Mew)
Some of Ash's pokemon I haven't quite decided on yet. For the flying type representative, it'll either be his Pidgeot or his Staraptor. Which do you want to see?
It's a Whole New World! (Johto Journeys)
In case anyone's wondering, my own favorite pokemon is Dragonite. If Ash manages to survive against Harry Potter and his wizard friends, he'll need to beat Champion Lance to truly become a Pokemon Master. I'm even considering adding Dragonite to Ash's own party as a pokemon he would find during his rise to power. What pokemon would you like to see added to Ash's party?
Pokemon Anime Kanto Battle Remix
Yep, the track above will be one of the battle themes for Showdown Match 3! I'm not as familiar with Harry Potter music, so post some suggestions!
Pallet Town Theme
Ash Ketchum will be confident and driven when he faces the challenge of a lifetime in Harry Potter. However, will the boy wizard's supernatural abilities prove to be the Pokemon Prodigy's downfall? Only time will tell.
After so many struggles and combats, Ash Ketchum has finally become the Pokemon Champion that he dreamed of being six long years ago. Alas, he now embarks on a journey far different from any he had ever considered before. This time, Ash is out for revenge against whomever or whatever massacred his home and friends. When the Pokemon Champion confronts the boy in the robe for his ultimate showdown, two universes will clash and neither will ever be the same.
THIS TIME, IT'S PERSONAL.
WHO. IS. DEADLIEST?!?!?!?!?
Stay tuned for more updates on Sora vs. Toon Link!
Hmm an nice one. I do think that Ash and red are different people in overall. Red is in the manga and games and Ash was made for tv. The biggest difference between the two that red has always been somewhat mature and a really good trainer. While ash is struggeling through half his matches and only win due to pure luck or help from his friends/opponent, Red was a man with a plan. he could think of battleplans. Most important, Red saw the function of evolving. I like Red better yes..
Anyhow, I understand your reasoning as seeing them as one person. I wil not complain for that.
For pidgeot versus staraptor, Staraptor is stronger and has an better special ability. Staraptor also has its final form the longest while Ash was training it. That said, Pidgeot has an better bond with Ash, something that is highly important to Ash and Pidgeot could carry either Ash or his friends. I suggest using pidgeot.
For the total of 6 pokemon I would love to see with Ash: Pikachu, charizard, Pidgeot, Sceptile/torterra and Kingler
For the last pokemon I have a few suggestions
Muk- Muk is an odd choise but will throw the oppponent offguard. Its stench and the ability to flat the opponent will be very usefull in the battle and it suits the style of Ash. He has not used Muk much but when he used him, the poison pokemon was very effective. Muk also has an complete loyalty towards Ash.
Heracross- Heracross is an bug pokemon and bug attacks are very effective to psycic (does that count in that battle) on the other hand, he is also part fighting which is weak to psy attacks. Heracross suits Ash other pokemon as quick but hard hitters.
Tauros- Tauros is a wild card for Ash. half the time Ash used Tauros, it was very effective and game changing but the other half of the time, he was kinda useless. it is an strong and hard hitter that can run over Harry and co easily. he could also be used to flee from fighting.
Donphan- A personal fave of mine. he will be much like Tauros
Gible- Even though he is small, he will be dangerous. Would love to see it eat the wand of Harry. it is also an good dragon type
Snorlax- That is the one that would be the best of all the choises. I know Snorlax sleeps all the time but he combines the best of all the others i have suggested. He can just sit on Harry and Harry is an goner. He can also hit hard really good with a lot of different attacks. He is big and can block most of the spells. Hell I even suspect that most attacks will just bounce off like with hagrid happened.
Please do not take dragonite. I know dragonite is epic and fucking strong but then the whole rule chances. Instead of the warriors you look at the warriors that could be. That means that you can put legendary pokemon in the team of Ash and put spells in the team of Harry that he never used. It will be an whole new ballgame, one in which not the strenght of the warrior will be tested but the strenght of the warrior that could be.
Lastly i wonder something. I know that you will be putting an grown Ash, but Ash is a complete foul. Every time he encounter something new, he looses.. Hard. For example, In the Unova region, the pikachu of lvl 80 or something looses against an pokemon of level 5. He looses a lot and very hard. This incompetence is constistent during the series and is a personal flaw of Ash. Something that might cost the battle.
Sorry for all of this but I like both Pokemon and Harry Potter and am very curious.
Hey man this preview looks awesome! I am really excited for this battle now. Sorry I haven't been on much, I got a final, mid term, and two projects all due this week!
I am going with Pidgeot , just because its classic.
Ares does have a bit of a point about Dragonite. Though he is very powerful by giving him to Ash you would have to, in fairness, give Harry spells that he wouldn't/didn't use in the novels/movies, like Avada Kedavra/Fiendfyre. That would be unfair to Ash and co, since basically the only thing he can do against Fiendfyre is fly above , which will make it necessary have charzard around him at all times. it would probably screw over Misty/Brock.
I am curious as to what the pokemon masters going to directly do in this fight, besides order their pokemon to attack?
As I said before I am very excited about this match, and I like what you have done with the edges too!
Thanks for the comments, everyone. I'll respond to some of them:
First of all, I see your point about Dragonite. The big dinosaur has sentimental value to me because he's been my right hand in every pokemon game I have played, but I also realize that he may be a bit too strong for the still teenage Ash to control. That being said, perhaps I'll involve him in the story in some other capacity.
Most of Ash's pokemon will be classic because those are from when Pokemon was most popular (seriously, it actually got banned at my school back in the day!), but I also want to respect where the series has gone in the past decade. With that in mind, I'll probably add one of the newer G4 to G5 pokemon to his arsenal.
In terms of the battle, it's no holds barred as always- no safety, no mercy, a duel to the death between Team Pokemon and Team Gryffindor. Ash and Co. have some limited personal combat experience from the movies, but they'll mainly have to rely on their pokemon as bodyguards to avoid damage and protect against Gryffindor's magic. For Ash's sake, he better hope that not all of his mons are fainted when Harry pulls out the Sword of Gryffindor! Remember, Ash is out for revenge this time so he'll stop at nothing to get it. History has shown that he'll risk his life for his friends and vice versa.
One thing that I hate about the anime (and the reason I don't watch it regularly anymore) is that Ash hasn't really developed as a character- he remains a ten year old in terms of maturity, but as it's been fifteen years already I think it's time for an update. Teenage Ash will be a pokemon champion and he'll also have a few personal traits in common with Red, including better strategy in general and a greater bond with his friends. However, he won't be perfect either- some personal flaws will remain, and his adolescent moodiness could highlight some of them further. Harry grew up during his time at Hogwarts, and I want to give Ash the same benefits for the best matchup possible.
Well man, this is very, very good man! I've always liked both series of Harry Potter and Pokemon, and this battle seems to be a clash of my childhoods. It's gonna be epic, and I can feel that already.
For his pokemon group, I will pick these guys, other than Pikachu and Charizard:
Pigeot: You pointed out this great guy in here, and I think you should bring Pidgeot back for this battle, and it'll be so nostalgic.
Kingler: He's a pretty big heavy hitter, and if the battle ever goes to the water, he'll be a huge advantage.
Tauros: Like what Ares said, all 30 of these guys are HUGE hitters and a wild card for Ash. That being said, they're hard to control and if Ash can't get a hold of these guys, it'll hurt him and his allies.
Glalie: Ah, this is a favorite of mine. While he may not seem like much, his ice powers will deal a big blow onto the opposing team.
Primeape: Now this guys is a MEGA hitter. Primeape gets angered easily and is vicious to boot, but that being said, his anger could be a disadvantage and could distract him from the other fighters if he's already attacking another.
Butterfree: If you decide to bring Pidgeot back, why not Butterfree back? Besides, Buttefree's got a good aresenal of attacks, like Stun Spore which could provide a good distraction for the fight.
That's all I have for Ash but I can see a few others for Ash's buds. I do hope we can see Togetic return as well as seeing Brock's Steelix, and those two will be HUGE advantages to their side.
I am curious as to how you are going to measure spells/sword against pokemon, would it be like Sectumsempra vs. Charzard. Pikachu vs. Sword of Godric Gryffyndor or stupefy vs. Pidgeot? and for defense, other then having their companions literally shield them does team pokemon have any? Harry's got Protego, and I am sure he could apparate his way out if he wanted. Also what are magical objects (cloak, firebolt, dittany (hermione carries some around) ) going to be measured against?
